Fatigue-fighting super foods

1. Seeds
Packed with fibre, protein, omega-3s and antioxidants, seeds like chia and flaxseed are nature’s nutritional powerhouses, which offer a long-lasting energy boost. Add two tablespoons of ground up seeds to yogurt or sprinkle over salad to reach your daily intake.

2. Berries
Yummy, low-cal, vitamin C-packed blueberries are the most antioxidant-rich fruit in existence. Nativa Blueberry Juice makes sipping your berries easy.

Nutrient-heavy goji berries combine carbohydrates with protein, fat and fibre, making dried goji the perfect snack for sustained energy.

3. Nuts
Almonds are rich in energy-boosting manganese, copper and riboflavin. Although they’re high in fat (the good, monounsaturated kind), studies link eating almonds with weight loss.

Nutrient-dense walnuts are known as “brain food” for their high omega-3 concentration.

Try a handful of Nativa Almonds or Mixed Nuts as a mid-afternoon snack.

4. Kidney beans
Kidney beans are high in thiamin, which enhances brain function. All beans are rich in antioxidants, low-calorie, and keep you feeling full for hours. So have bean salad or vegetarian chili at lunch to stay mentally sharp. (Tip: Peppermint tea minimizes gas).

5. Lean meat
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue. Although fatty and processed meats increase your risk of various health ailments, lean meat products pack protein and vitamin B12 in a healthy package.

6. Dark chocolate
Besides its antioxidant and blood-pressure lowering benefits, chocolate provides an immediate mood boost. Look for 70% cocoa or higher for maximum benefits. Try Nativa Organics’ Swiss Chocolate bar in Dark.

7. Whole grains
Whole grains contribute to cardiovascular health—and as we all know, that’s key to keeping up with busy babies. Start the day with whole grains found in Nativa Organics’ Bran Flakes, Raisin Bran or Wheat Squares, or snack on Nativa popcorn, which is available in a variety of flavours.

8. Yogurt
Thanks to its texture, yogurt starts digesting rapidly. But, the high protein content means digestion takes longer overall. Result: A fast-acting, long-lasting energy and mood boost.
